If you want to use the entire slide, background and all, then you can export to image and choose .jpg. If instead, you have built something on the slide that you want to use in other projects (not the entire slide, just the thing you built on it), then you can use Preview to convert it to a form that can be used in just about any other app on the mac (I describe it on this page)

All you have to do is copy the objects, open them in Preview using Command-N, then save as an image (pdf or png are best in my opinion). This way, the image will have a transparent background... meaning you'll be able to use it seamlessly with different backgrounds in different apps.
